ByReply.com's (FAQs)
Frequently Asked Questions
Ask your questions by sending email to us here: webmaster@ByReply.com?subject=FAQWhat do I get with my
ByReply.com account?
That depends on which kind of account you get :-) The best way to compare the
different kinds of accounts we offer is probably to look at our comparison table.
What is an autoresponder?
Our autoresponders should really be called multi-responders because they allow
your prefomatted messages to be delivered at set times that can be spread out over a full
year, as many as 52 for paid accounts. What ByReply.com autoresponders ARE is really
your own automated sales force.
People can begin to receive your messages by sending any email to your
autoresponder email address OR by signing up for the messages using an online form, which
our "form wizzard" will help you create. Each message can be
"personalized" for the recipient. THAT feature alone, which you can use in
the message and the subject line, will increase your response rates tremendously.
Can I use my contact's name or other information?
Yes! This is one of the BEST features of our system. Not
only can you use their name, you can include many other individual bits of information
sprinkled into your messages. THAT keeps the reader's attention, and if you have their
attention, they will be more likely to do what you ask them to do.
But our system does even more!
You can create forms that allow you to get all kinds of
information from your contacts so that you can really zero in effectively with your
message. You could, for example, send a message only to people in a certain city or state,
if your form asks that question. Or, you could send your message to people of a certain
income level, or even based on the kind of information they want. This targeting can
REALLY jump your response rates.
How does the ad-tracking system work?
This is a really cool feature that other services SHOULD offer,
but many do not. It allows you to create a URL that you can include in your own
messages, any advertising you do, even as text links on your web sites, and you will know
EXACTLY how many people clicked that link. Don't let others tell you they offer a
good bargain in advertising. Make them prove it by comparing the costs and your results
using the free tracking service included with any paid account.
How does the reminder service work?
This is another really cool feature. We could call this
your "virtual secretary" because that is how powerful it is. You simply
tell it a date to remember, include details about the date, and tell the system when to
contact you about it. Then forget it. Our system will automatically remind you just
exactly as you requested. This is included with all paid accounts for no extra charge.
Can I alter the messages being sent by autoresponder?
Yes. ANYTIME you need to alter any one or more messages, you simply log into your
account, make changes as needed, and save it. Simple. Quick. Easy.
What does it cost to get set up?
We charge ZERO to get started beyond the price of the account itself.
How can I get people to access my autoresponder?
You will want to put your autoresponder email address in your ezines and ezine
advertising. You can create a form for your web page. Be creative. Offer a freebie of some
kind if your visitors subscribe to your autoresponder. You CAN NOT use your
autoresponder email address when posting to FFA pages or as the contact email in
classified advertising. That will create a huge amount of email that will clog our system,
and for the protection of other users your account would be closed.
Is there a limit to the size of my messages?
Yes. The attention span of your reader. :-)
WE do NOT limit the size of your message, but understand you
cannot and should not include everything about your service, affiliate program,
money-making venture or whatever in ONE message. Besides with up to 52 follow up
messages available with our paid service, there is no need to do that. The better,
tested way to use an autoresponder is send some information, let your contact think about
for a day or two and then have the system send more information automatically.
How do I know someone is on my list?
You can see who is on your list anytime by looking in your account online. In
fact, you can see how many folks have joined and left your list in the few hours or weeks.
You get GREAT detailed information on this anytime you want it.
How do I know someone has joined my list?
You get an email (sent to the email address you gave us when you set up your
account) every time someone joins your list.
How do I stop getting these "signup" messages?
You can't. BUT, what you can and SHOULD do is create a folder in your email
program for all these messages to be "filtered" into. This will give you
the proof you need if someone later accuses you of sending SPAM. You can produce
that notification message which proves that the accuser did agree to receive your emails.
How hard is it to "remove" someone from my list?
Not hard at all. If someone wants off your list, they can just use the
"unsubscribe" link at the end of every message. We even created a link that AOL
users can use. You can also log in to your account anytime and remove someone
yourself.
Is this a hard system to use?
We do not think so. (Didn't you know we would say that? <g>) The
system has question marks beside each of the major functions your account can perform.
Read those explanations and you are probably going to be able to do what you need
done. But if you have a problem, and those explanations did not help, you are
welcome to contact us for more assistance.

How many ads are in the message I send out?
That depends on which account you select. Free accounts will have ONE ad at
the top of messages sent out. Paid accounts, including our nearly
free account with one autoresponder per account will have ZERO ads, except any ads you
include as a part of your message.
How do I "import" my list?
You will need to put your list into a comma delimited format. The minimum will be
as follows: first name, last name, email address on ONE line. If you do not have the
first and/or last name, you STILL need to have a comma there. So if you currently
have a subscriber John Public with an email address johnpublic@aol.com
you will have a line of text that looks like this:
John,Public,johnpublic@aol.com
If you do not have John's first or last name, your line of text
will look like this:
,,johnpublic@aol.com
Can my list be any size?
Yes. Although if your list is 20,000 or more, you may want to
import it in parts of 20K or so at a time.
I just purchased a safe list of names of opt-in subscribers. Can
I import that list and use it to mail my sales messages too?
No. Did you want to buy a bridge I have for sale in Brooklyn. It
is safe too. :-) You should ask for a refund from the list buyer, but if you load
that list here, you WILL be accused of SPAM and you WILL have your account
terminated. When you decide whether to add a new contact to your autoresponders,
just remember this little phrase:
"If THEY don't commit, you MUST omit."
In other word, UNLESS your contact requests to be on
your list adding them is done without their permission and you must omit that contact. (Do
not add them.)
I am trying to see if the autoresponder name I want is available,
but I get a message that says the program can not access the database. What is
wrong?
There may be a problem with your autoresponder "name"
the part you want in front of @ByReply.com. Our ezine uses secretsforsuccess@ByReply.com (You
can subscribe if you want.) So our "name" is secretsforsuccess. Your
autoresponder name can be numbers, or letters, no other characters. You can NOT have
hyphens/dashes, but you can have underscores in your name. You should limit your names to
20 characters. So, any of the following would be acceptable:
secretsforsuccess OR secrets_for_success but NOT
secrets-for-success.
One of the ByReply.com users has me on their list and I want
off, what can I do?
If you are on a list and do not want to be there, we want you off
that list as must as you do. What works 99.9% of the time is to use the
"unsubscribe" link at the end of every message sent out by the system. If
that does NOT work, you are welcome to FORWARD THE ENTIRE MESSAGE to us at:
webmaster@ByReply.com?subject=REMOVE
and we will get you out of the system.
Why can't you remove me from ALL ByReply.com contact lists at
one time?
Great question. So good in fact, that we have asked our
programmer to include that feature in the coming upgrade. We do not have that ability yet,
but we will.
